Decorating Mistakes

Here are some decorating mistakes that you need to know.

  1. Placing too much decorative pillows. Before decorating your room with pillows, you should first ask yourself if the pillows are useful or inconvenient. Decorative pillows must be useful, well-located, and comfy.
  2. Using ugly slipcovers or that does not match. Pick a color to go with your room. If you make use of slipcovers to keep your furniture clean then remove it when guests visit.
  3. Hanging the entire art work or mirrors at the same height. Not everyone has the same eye level. You can try hanging your mirror or artwork 60 to 65 inches from the floor to the center of the mirror or picture. Furthermore, you have to take a glance at the objects in the room because depending upon furniture and seating arrangements you may well need to go higher or lower.
  4. Choosing uncomfortable furniture that looks good. It is very important to select furniture that is comfortable and stylish.
  5. Trends. You just wasted your money if you get carried away with the trend of the season which does not match to your existing design. You should ensure that you really adore the style, and it should works harmoniously with your existing decor.
  6. Too much patterns and prints. Choose one pattern, generally a large print, and then get a one small, matching print and one stripe or plaid. But if you need one more fabric, consider using a solid-colored texture instead of a new pattern or print.
  7. Placing rug in the middle of the room. You need to think about the effectiveness of the rug to your room and a rug must be used to help tie a room together.
  8. Pushing all your furniture against the wall. Pushing the furniture against the wall won’t make room looks bigger. You will have more open, airy look in your room if you move your chairs out of the corners.
  9. Placing the entire collectibles on display. Do not over do it, just put out key pieces or rotate them. More is less here.
  10. Using family heirlooms. You don’t have to decorate your room just like your parent and grandparent. If it is not your style then it is better to store it.
